We're going the green way
With our products, processes and know-how we are committed to the goals of sustainability and resource efficiency. At Buderus Guss, environmental protection is a firmly established corporate principle. It has the same importance as the quality of the products and the economic efficiency of the company's activities.
We develop our products in an environmentally friendly and recyclable way and strive for minimum emissions, waste, effluent and energy consumption in all production processes.
We have been implementing the continuous improvement process of our environmental and energy management system for years and have a proven track record.
We achieve energy efficiency and resource conservation
in the production process through energy-efficient equipment. The most modern filter technologies are used to reduce emissions
We use environmentally compatible raw materials, auxiliary materials and supplies.
Compliance with legal regulations and official requirements for environmental protection is a matter of course for us.
As one of the largest employers in the region, Buderus Guss has been investing sustainably in environmental protection measures since the 1970s in order to protect people in the surrounding area from noise and exhaust air. Pioneering investments in the last 10 years have included new dry dedusting systems, such as one of the most modern gas cleaning systems for cupola furnaces, which ensures that the waste gases produced during the melting process are completely extracted and cleaned.
In the subsequent heat exchanger tower, heat is recovered, which is used to heat the halls and to heat service water. The retrofitting of a dry dedusting system in the raw casting processing department with an additional absolute filter also led to a considerable reduction in the dust value (factor 100).
From the beginning, the foundryman was and is a recycler - a reuser.
Every brake disc from Buderus Guss is 100 percent recyclable and is made from recycled material.
Most of the time, the life of a car ends at the scrap yard - compressed into square packages. This is not the end, but a new beginning. The scrap packages - the basic material for every brake disc - end up in the scrap yard and are melted down again in the melting units together with other recycled material, e.g. the chips produced during mechanical processing.
And our moulding sands are also circulated and reprocessed again and again. Even the quantities of used sand extracted from the process are not lost. They are recycled by cement works.
Not only the locations are equipped with energy-efficient equipment. Buderus Guss is playing a major role with its products in the global competition to reduce CO2 emissions developing lightweight construction panels with further potential for weight savings. And we also have development potential for further optimisation in the case of the iDisc® particulate reduction brake disc.
